“Ugh,” Tommy moans. "I can’t wait to get the credit card bill.”

“Relax, baby. It wasn’t all for me. I picked you up some goodies, too.”

“Don’t scare me. Last time you bought me khakis."

“No clothes this time. Just toys.” She winks, brandishing a bag from Condom World.

“All right, TMI.” I cringe. The last thing I want to hear about is what Tommy and Juju do in the bedroom. Elle laughs.

“I may have picked up a little something from there. For us,” Elle murmurs, running her hands over the muscles of my arms. “I can always take everything back.”

“God, doll.” I smile and shake my head as she runs her hands down the front of my shirt and pulls on the belt loop of my jeans until our hips touch. I can feel her breath quicken. “This teasing has got to stop, or I’m gonna have to take you right here.” I eye her up and down, summoning every ounce of willpower not to throw her over my shoulder and take her to the bathroom. “Can you at least tell me what you bought?” She shakes her head, exhales and runs her tongue along my bottom lip.

“And where’s the fun in that?” she replies in a shaky breath.

"Looks like you two need to be alone.” Juju wiggles her eyebrows and throws herself on Tommy.

"No more shopping trips. This is it. The rest of the time we'll be hanging out together until you guys leave next week,” I say, inhaling the sweet smell of her hair.

“How about we play some pool?” Juju chirps.

"All the tables are taken,” I groan, mentally wincing that my chance to get Elle home early is slipping out of my fingers. I frown when Tommy snatches a table from a couple of guys finishing up. I'm starting to think that Tommy hates me.

“Why are you frowning, baby?" Elle asks. You don't wanna play pool with me?" Her intense gaze causes my dick to twitch.

“I think I’d rather play with you in bed," I growl into her ear as I tug playfully on her hair.

"I’ve got a better idea." I see her brow crinkle, and I know she’s thinking about me as she chews on her bottom lip.

“I'm listening," I reply, hopeful as I run my teeth over my bottom lip.

“If you win, you choose whatever it is you want from me.”

"Anything?" My mind goes wild thinking about her in nothing but red lace. I may need to pick up those cuffs she’s made reference to before we go home. I don’t doubt her skills at pool. Shit. I have never seen her play, and I’m pretty good. Either way, win or lose, I'm going to come out on top.

"And if I lose?" I say, quirking an eyebrow in amusement.

"I make you my sexual slave," she whispers with a distractively sexy half-smile on her lips.

I think my dick just ripped a hole in my boxers and is ready to burst my zipper. Fuck winning. I'm losing.

"Let's go."

********

We've been playing pool for about thirty minutes, and Elle is horrible. I have to top her shitty pool skills by being equally horrible. I want to lose. I'm curious about her whole slave idea. We haven’t been together that long, and it makes me wonder if she's got this super kinky side. She grins at me and then leans over the table, eyeing me seductively.

"What’s your next move?” I chuckle, observing her trying to handle the stick. I want her to handle mine instead. She walks around the table, twirling her hair and trying to get the best angle for the shot, sometimes purposely putting her sweet ass within my reach. I'm no dummy. I smack it every time she offers it. “You really aren’t good at pool, are you?” I grin, admiring her ass in her tight jeans.

"Stop it, Reed." She pouts, struggling with the stick.

"You want me to help you, baby?” Rising from my stool before she can answer, I stand behind her as she's bent over the table. Her scent envelops me as I nuzzle my nose in her hair. "I like you in this position," I growl, nibbling her ear as I tug her hair.

"Are you guys playing pool or making a porno?” Tommy laughs from the table with Juju looking on with a smirk on her face.

"Sounds like fun, don’t ‘cha think?" Elle peeks over her shoulder. Her eyes twinkle devilishly. "You're losing on purpose." She laughs.

"The way I see it, I win either way.”

God, the fact that I am back here with her now makes me the luckiest fucking man alive.

"I can't get a good angle to get a shot in." She frowns, turning her attention to the table.

"I know a lot of good angles." I cock an eyebrow at her and grab her waist. This constant touching is torturing me. I need a release really soon. This game is dragging.

"How about we make this the last shot? If you make it, I lose. I’m your slave. If you don't make it, I’m still your slave."

"You're really curious about this whole slave thing I have planned, aren't you?" she teases, cocking her head to one side as she winds her hair around her finger.

I nod my head adamantly. "Hell yeah, between you mentioning the cuffs and this, I think there’s plenty I still don’t know about you that I’m eager to discover.”

"Be careful what you wish for," she says, flirting shamelessly with me.

"Fuck, doll, I'm gonna love whatever it is you have planned. Just take the shot so we can get outta here."

**Cover Reveal** BEAUTIFUL FAILURE by Mariah Cole

BeautifulFailure_Revised_CVR_LRG (1)

Synopsis

If you're looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life--a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that'll tell you how "broken" she is, STOP. Don't read another word of this.

I'm not that type of girl.

My name is Emerald Anderson and I'm not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I've been fired from every job I've ever taken, and I've never had a fully functioning relationship in my life.

I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, "No, Emerald--You're great and you are good at something!" but I don't. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother's dying words to me were "You're going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing."

She was right.

As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me--one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother's words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away.

He's the first man who's ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he's wasting his time.

I'm not broken. I don't need to be fixed. I'm perfectly fine being a beautiful failure...

Excerpt

My mother was a whore.

Her name was Leah Isabelle Anderson—“Leah Belle” for short, and she was one of New Jersey’s most sought after escorts.

With deep green eyes that could take any man’s breath away, and skin so porcelain and smooth that it looked too perfect to touch, she was breathtakingly beautiful. Often compared to a supermodel, her raven black hair fell past her shoulders, and her naturally long eyelashes were always coifed to perfection.

Growing up, I had no idea what she did with the men who picked her up in their shiny and expensive cars—the men who wore thousand dollar suits and patted me on the head while saying, “Your mom is really something special.”

In a way, these strangers became the closest thing I had to a family since I never knew my father: Her regulars, Christian and William, sent me gifts every Christmas. Arnie bought me my first bike, Steve taught me how to change a tire, and her most ruthless suitor—Vincent, took me shopping for designer clothes once a month.

Leah Belle—she never ever let me call her “mom,” wasn’t exactly a mother to me; she was more like an older friend. An older ‘I’ll-be-there-when-it’s-convenient’ friend.

She missed every elementary school play, every middle school writing competition, and never gave a damn about my grades. At first, the involuntary loneliness bothered me, but after I created an army of invisible friends and easily accessible fantasies, I came to terms with her neglect and happily accepted any attention she was willing to give me.

When I became a teenager, she started to hang around me more often—promising that she would do better, promising that she would make sure that “from here on out, [we’d] be best friends.” Since she’d run away from her parents after having me at sixteen, she made a point to never lecture or discipline me. She did however, teach me three very important lessons:

1.) “Always put tons of effort into the way you look. You need to be beautiful on the outside, no matter how fucked up you are on the inside. If you ever feel sad or depressed, suck that shit up and add more mascara.”

2.) “Don’t make friends. Make sponsors. If you can’t get anything out of someone or use them for a specific purpose, kick that person out of your life ASAP.”

3.) “Beauty wins over brains every time. Your body will always be your most important asset. Remember that.”

For my fourteenth birthday, she poured me my first shot and offered me a short line of coke, saying, “Welcome to life, Em!”

I shook my head at the coke—I’d read about the effects, but I happily took the red shot glass from her hand.

“To the best fuckin’ daughter in the world!” She lifted her glass in the air, waiting for me to do the same, and then she ordered me to toss it back.

The initial burning sensation was painful—disgusting, but in the years to come, that bitterness tasted better and better, and I looked forward to the two of us drinking together. It was the only time that she gave me her undivided attention.

In those moments, I would tell her about another writing competition I’d won or how I’d received more early college scholarships. When it was her turn, she would tell me about “turning tricks” like other parents told their kids about a day at the office.

“I can’t tell you how weak Ben’s dick was today,” she’d say. “I mean, I feel like I should be charging him double for the weak ass fucks he puts me through.”

“You don’t enjoy it with him? Ever?” I’d ask.

“No. Never with him. But he’s a sponsor, I’m getting his money, and that’s all that matters. I just lie there, scratch his back, and say ‘HarderHarder’ to make him think I’m into it until—”

“Until he cums?”

“Yep.” She’d pass me a cigarette before sighing. “With him and a few others, I usually have to take a few shots beforehand to numb my mind. With the really good ones, all I have to do is relax. Sex can be fucking incredible when it’s done right…”

One particular Friday, after she let one of her regulars take me shopping for a Chanel bag, I unlocked the door to our home and saw droplets of blood all over the floor.

“Leah?” I set my shopping bag down. “Did you get another nose bleed?”

No answer.

I headed into the kitchen, looking for her usual remedies—hot tea and Q tips, but she wasn’t there.

“You here?” I walked around our living room and checked all the rooms upstairs. Confused, I pulled out my cell phone and called her.

No answer again.

I shrugged and opened a bottle of vodka, tossing back a few shots. I figured she’d left with one of her sponsors for a quickie and would be back by the time our favorite show started.

I decided to take a shower before it came on and headed into the downstairs bathroom.

The second I hit the lights, my heart fell out of my chest.

I wanted to believe that what I was seeing was simply a sick joke by my imagination—a twisted fantasy I’d snap out of in seconds.

Pale and blue, Leah’s body lay lifeless in our tub. Her left arm was dangling over the edge, and the small velvet bag where she kept her cocaine was dangling from her fingertips.

Scattered across the floor were hundreds of prescription pills and empty orange bottles that bore the names of strangers. On the vanity, there was an empty syringe and a folded note that read “For my Em…”

Trembling, I rushed to her side and pressed my finger against her neck, hoping for a pulse.

Nothing.

I tilted her head back and tried to breathe life into her—pressing her chest with my hands every few seconds, but it was no use.

She was gone.

I sank down to the floor in tears—cursing her, hating her, for doing this to me. To us.

I had no friends to call, no family either, so in my numb and dazed state I somehow managed to call 9-1-1. While the operator attempted to calm me down by asking me to take deep breaths, I walked over to the vanity and unfolded Leah’s last note:
Em,
I know you’re confused right now, but I want you to know that I love you. I love you so fucking much… You were the only thing that made my life worth living, and I wish I was strong enough to keep that in mind…

I’m not.

I’m tired of living a lie and I haven’t been happy in a very long time… I just can’t take it anymore…

I’ve fucked up a lot of things in my life, but the biggest regret I have is the way I raised you…I’m so sorry… This is going to be hard for you to believe—especially since I’m gone, but I need you to forget all that shit I taught you. Right now.

Fuck using your looks to get what you want. Go to college and do some good shit with your life, like write or something. You’re a good writer, you’re very smart, and you need to use your brain to get ahead. Can you promise to do that for me, Em?

Then again…It’s probably too late and I’m willing to bet that you’ll end up just like me: A beautiful nothing…
It won’t be your fault though. It’ll be—

I stopped reading and flushed that note down the toilet. Her last words were clearly written out of sadness and they were only compounding my pain.

As far as I was concerned, Leah had raised me the best she could and she was far from a “beautiful nothing” in my eyes. In fact, I cherished every single thing she’d taught me.

Even though I was beyond hurt that she’d selfishly left me all alone, I was determined to remember her at her best and for everything she was to me:

My mother.

My best friend.

My role model.

Beautiful Mess Book Blitz Banner

Synopsis

What happens when you lose everyone that promised they would always be there for you? How can you protect the few pieces of your shattered heart that remain?

Olivia Adler is a woman with a troubled past. After losing her parents at the young age of six and being raised by an uncle who she lost years later, she refuses to get attached to anyone, including friends. For the past decade, she has been able to remain unattached to any man, too worried about losing someone to get too close. Will Olivia let Alexander in enough for him to get close and protect her from a force threatening her very existence, or will she push him away, scared of letting Alexander in, in order to protect her heart?

A Beautiful Mess is the first installment of a three part series sure to captivate the heart with a story of secrets, courage, and love.

excerpt

Olivia eyed Alexander as she tasted the delicious wine. “So, Antonio seems excited that you’re here with me. Any reason for that?”

Alexander placed his wine glass on the table and grabbed Olivia’s hand. “To be honest, it seems we have a little something in common, Miss Adler. I don’t really do the relationship thing either. I like to fuck and leave all those emotional attachments out of it. I’ve certainly never taken a woman out like this before, apart from the obligatory charity functions I am expected to be at.”

Olivia looked down, not wanting to hear what he was going to say next. She actually enjoyed spending time with Alexander and for once wanted more than just an occasional hook-up, but it sounded as though that was all he was interested in. But why the Red Sox game? Why the wine and dine? And why didn’t he make his move at Beer Works when Olivia made it rather clear that she wanted him to kiss her?

Alexander continued speaking, breaking her away from her growing unsettled emotions. “But, there’s just something about you, Olivia. You make me want to break all my rules. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I’m beginning to not care.”

Butterflies erupted in Olivia’s stomach at his words. She felt the same way. Looking up, she smiled as she met Alexander’s eyes. “That doesn’t mean that I still don’t want to fuck you senseless, Miss Adler,” he winked as the waiter arrived to take their order, leaving Olivia completely shocked.

TEASER

He searched her electric blue eyes for some hint of the attraction he had seen earlier. They still glowed more than they should, but he didn't see any of look he sought. Instead, he saw his own anger filled face and red glowing eyes.

He saw a monster.

His hands dropped to his sides, as he shook his head. “I’ll never bother you again.”

She cried, struggling with breath when she spoke, "It was you outside of my house?”

He didn't move, frightened of what he could do to her. She was so small and fragile and he feared loving her to death.
Bravely and unexpectedly, she stepped closer for a moment, lifting his face. Black tears streamed her cheeks but she looked into his eyes hard.

It left him, the blood lust. She took it all away, like she sucked it from him instead of him sucking from her.
Her face was confusing, conflicted and scared, but there was something else he didn't know how to read.

Delicately, she ran her hand down his cheek. “I will keep your secret and I wont forget you, not even if I wanted to.” She turned and walked from the room, turning her back on him like she trusted what she saw in his eyes.

He clenched his jaw, his whole body really. He fought the urge to follow her out into the dark night. He hated the look he had seen on her face, he never wanted to force that look again.

Instead, he stood there, vibrating with anger and self-hatred. Never should he have confessed. He should have spent the time that he had with her, waiting for the Michaels to divulge his little secret. They would have ousted themselves at the same moment, so maybe they would have forgone the explanation of the town's secrets. But even if they had told her, at least he might have had more time with her.

A sound caught his ears, it was dripping. He looked down to see droplets of blood dripping from his clenched hands to the hard wood floors. He released his grip, turning and looking back at the portrait of his family.

**Release Day Blitz!** THE BROKEN PARTS OF US by Ker Dukey

Title:  The Broken Parts of Us
Author:  Ker Dukey

SYNOPSIS:

Some people search their whole life for a connection -- a reason to be here, and feel life in all of its intensity.. But what if you never wanted to experience that emotion? Jasper lived his life coldly determined never to fall in love. Some people impact your life in a moment, and will stay in your life forever from then on. What if an irresistible force crashes into you -- not once, but twice, and from a totally unexpected source? Jasper must overcome past demons that are still plaguing him and his friends. He must face future choices he never knew he would have to make. Sexual chemistry can come in all forms. When the lines blur between friendship, love and lust, a new darkness finds its way into their lives. Either these relationships survive or die forever broken ……in The Broken Parts of Us

Jasper

Coming to the dance studio was like slow torture for one reason. Kyra. She's a dance instructor here...

She stirs something inside me, primal and deep that I refuse to give knowledge to. She's also my wet fucking dream. I want inside that tight little body so bad, but she's important to River, and as bad as I want her, I know I won't want her for longer than my needs take to be satisfied. So I don't pursue her, even though when she smiles at me, all nervous and coy, my dick strains against my jeans. I have to hold him there to stop him from tearing through and slithering up her leg.

Derek

Jasper’s nightmares, and the frantic call from River telling me Michael pushed her down the stairs; her sobbing cries telling me he was Danny’s, left me really not feeling up for company tonight.

Danny still haunts us after six long years. I would never change the family I ended up with from the rubble of Danny’s earth-shattering actions, but I'm so angry that they're  still suffering, and would give anything to take away the damage he inflicted.

People don’t realise trauma stays with you. It may fade, it may become easier to cope with, but it’s like scar tissue; it will always be there and no amount of healing can rid you of it.

Not all scars are visible. Sometimes the worst scars are the ones you can’t see; they’re the ones that hold your mind hostage in nightmares. They’re the ones that manipulate your emotions, making guilt crawl into your mind, polluting reasonable thought. Guilt can be so hard to live with; consuming and painful.

People think death is the worst thing that can happen but it’s not, it’s the living that other people have to go on doing once someone we love is taken from this world. It’s the what ifs that constantly replay in our minds. It’s the did they know I loved them? What would they be like if they were here now? How do I get up today and live with this agony?

The only thing that makes it slightly easier is having family to live for, to love, to get up and go on coping for. River has become like a sister to me. She fills a void left by my own sister; her death still plagues me and I feel responsible for her taking her life. River and I share this same grief. We are bonded by a shared misery; a painful sorrow that is a part of us.

Sammy has become like the brother I never had. We share a love for River, but also we are survivors. We have both looked the devil in the eye and lived to breathe another day.

EXCERPT:

Thunder rumbled in the sky and the thick, dark clouds lit up in the distance, revealing what the tops of the trees looked like painted against the black backdrop that had shrouded them. The crawling branches that reached upward along the infinite dark looked ominous as the flash of light faded.

I felt a drop of rain. And then another.

“So much for a quiet walk together,” Bray said.

And just then, the sky opened up and it began to pour. Bray shrieked and tried to cover herself unsuccessfully with her arms and then the screaming turned into laughter. We were both drenched in under five seconds. The rain pounded down so fast and so hard that we had to shout over the noise to hear each other; each drop like a million nails being thrust into the dirt on the baseball field.

“It’s a long walk back!” I said.

Bray started spinning like a ballerina in the middle of the field. She laughed and raised her arms above her and turned her face upward toward the sky and just let the rain wash over her. She opened her mouth and spun around and around. I watched her for a moment, mesmerized by her innocence. I saw that little girl I met so long ago, running with me through that pasture without a worry in the world. Just seeing her like that, it made me smile, but deep down it also crushed me. I knew that she would never be that innocent again, that our life together would never be as carefree as it was when we were children.

“Dance with me!” she shouted.

“What?”

“Dance with me!”

I had heard her right the first time. I just didn’t understand why here, why now.

“There’s no music!” I said over the rain.

She grabbed my hand. “You don’t hear that?!” she said, motioning to the patter of rain and thunder around us.

She started spinning around me and I stood in the same spot following her until she grabbed both of my hands and pulled on them. Next thing I knew, we were spinning together, holding each other’s hands tightly and distributing equal weight on our arms. At first, I felt like an idiot and hoped Tate wasn’t spying, or worse, Caleb. But I was quickly lost in Bray’s laughter and her smile and her beautiful blue eyes. The thunder got louder, the lightning more intense. I was beginning to worry about us being out in the open like this, in the center of a baseball field just asking to be struck down by the finger of God. But soon, I didn’t care. We were those two innocent children again, living free and loving life. And not even lightning could ruin this moment. It wouldn’t dare.

We stopped spinning, and I twirled her around by her hands as I stood in place, and then I dipped her. Leaning over her body, I pressed my wet lips between her breasts as her white shirt was weighted down by the endless rain.
